Fett & Fields P.C. is once again in the news as AnnArbor.com featured a story covering a reverse discrimination lawsuit against the City of Ypsilanti's Police Department on behalf of Client Kent Overton. The story highlights Fett & Fields latest courtroom victory as "U.S. District Judge Mark A. Goldsmith issued a Feb. 16 opinion and order denying a motion by the city to enter a judgment in its favor without a trial." The lawsuit alleges that Overton, a white male police officer, was passed over for a promotion in favor of a far less-qualified black officer. Along with the judges opinion, the story also features a video of Officer Eddie Davis, the man promoted in favor of Overton, brutally abusing a prisoner just months before his promotion.
Davis was recently disciplined for threatening co-workers, including Overton, with bodily harm.
